INDUSTRY CAPABILITY NETWORK

DESCRIPTION (Visit: www.icn.org.au)

The Industry Capability Network (ICN) assists in procurement and project management to maximise the substitution of imports with local products.

ICN is an independently managed non-profit organisation financially supported by Government.  ICN services are always confidential and available to all areas of the private and public sectors.

ICN expertise can assist the manufacturing sector to expand or develop their products to access new opportunities.

PRIMARY USES
Identifies local industry capabilities
Assists in competitive sourcing
Facilitates technology uptake
Stimulates economic growth
Generates or retains employment
Creates opportunities for  local industry

HOW IT WORKS
ACN has a unique network across Australia and New Zealand to effectively access a national register of industrial capability.
The ACN will:
Search for competitive local producers
Evaluate capability to meet production requirements
Work with organisations to enhance their receptivity to local producers
Provide information on procurement opportunities while maintaining confidentiality
Assist suppliers to interpret the quality and technical requirements in the acquisition process
Encourage the use of licensing agreements for technology not locally available
Identify local companies suitable for offsets work
Advises on opportunities for new or increased production.

HOW TO START
If there is a manufacturer in your region who can competitively supply local manufactured products and wants to do so, ensure they make themselves known to the ACN in your State or Territory.  The ACN keep a national register of such manufacturers.
If a business in your region wants to know where goods or services can be sourced from local suppliers as replacements for imported products, they should get in touch with the ACN.
Development of an awareness campaign for local businesses, in partnership with the ACN, will assist in having businesses use the service.

STRENGTHS
ACN services are free and confidential and are available nationally to all areas of the private and public sectors.
